Bou : "A lot of pressure"

04/09/11 - 22:06

The Repsol rider is the great championship for the fifth year in a row. Takahisha Fujinami signs the third position in the overall standings and Laia Sanz is fifteenth in the Junior category.

Toni Bou conquered this Sunday his fifth Outdoor Trial World Championship title ?all of them consecutive? after winning the eleventh and last round. To those five titles, Bou adds another five in Indoor ?also consecutive? and always as Repsol Montesa Honda rider.

The Repsol rider was the only competitor that was never out of the podium in this 37th edition of the World Championship. He won seven rounds and has a total of 39 world championship victories, which places him as the third most successful rider in history. Bou confirmed his new title a week after Laia Sanz won again the World and Continental titles ?her eleventh and tenth, respectively? in the females? class.

Today, under a constant rain, the Repsol Montesa Honda rider did not settle for finishing in the top six, a result that would allow him to secure the title, and made a difference from the first lap, showing his high level in the competition. His team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, was fourth, a result that kept him in the third final position of the overall standings. Laia Sanz was fifteenth in the Junior category.

Toni Bou
When you win a title you are never sure if you are going to win another. We worked the whole year for this feat and that was the tenth time I lived such a great moment. Today things went very well for us, with a very good first lap and another triumph.

This is the way I wanted to win this championship where, as always, there was a lot of pressure. It does not matter if the difference with the rivals is more or less, in a World Championship there is always tension.
